Serving Opportunities
Show God’s Care | Share God’s Story
We believe in a humble God who came not to be served but to serve. We respond to God's love for us by showing God's care to others.
Here at Spring Garden Church we have many opportunities for you to serve within the church and outside the church walls. Join us as we show God's care to those who need it most.
If you are interested in serving or would like more information, please contact Sam Lee. For some of the ways you can get involved, please see below.
Sunday Morning Hospitality
One of our core values is providing a safe and welcoming space for each person who walks through our doors on a Sunday morning. As such, we strive to cultivate a culture of hospitality through a variety of volunteer roles:
Greeting – Greeters arrive at or before 9:45am to say hello and welcome each person who arrives on a Sunday morning for our worship gathering.
Welcome Desk – Welcome desk volunteers stand at the welcome table in the West Lounge following worship to connect with any visitors or guests who may have questions.
Refreshments – Refreshment volunteers prepare coffee and snacks prior to worship and then serve the refreshments during our fellowship time after worship.
Laundering Dish Towels/Cloths – We have a team of volunteers who take the dirty towels and cloths home after our refreshment time, launder them, and return the clean towels/cloths.
Email Emily at emilykielstra@springgardenchurch.ca if you are interested in serving on our Sunday morning hospitality team.
Sunday Morning Worship
At Spring Garden, we believe that communal worship is when God’s people gather together as a particular community for engagement in rooted and communal worship, giving glory to God and witnessing to His Kingdom. We use music, prayer, teaching, reading of scripture, stories, art, and silence to cultivate an inviting space to lift our voices to God.
Tech Booth (sound board or projection) – Tech booth volunteers arrive at 8:30am for the band practice and run the sound or the projector slides and live stream during worship.
Worship Band – Those in the band rehearse the songs mid week and then on Sundays arrive at 8:30am for band practice before leading the music during worship.
Prayers of the People – Prayer volunteers lead the congregation in a prayer addressing the needs of our world, our neighbourhood, and our church community.
Scripture Reading – Readers read the passage of Scripture relating to the sermon for that week.
Communion Preparation and Clean Up – We have a team who prepare the bread and juice for communion before worship on the first Sunday of the month as well as collecting and cleaning the cups afterwards.
Creative Team – The Creative Team oversees the creation and use of art for communal worship.
Email Greg at gregkay@springgardenchurch.ca if you are interested in volunteering during our Sunday morning worship gatherings.
Children and Youth Discipleship Ministries
Partnering with families to support and nurture the spiritual, emotional, and social growth of our children and youth is immensely important to us. Becoming involved in our children and youth discipleship ministries is one way you can actively participate in our children and youth’s ongoing discipleship.
Children’s Sunday Morning Worship – Children’s ministry volunteers lead our children in age appropriate worship following the Children and Youth Blessing.
Youth Group – Youth volunteers support and connect with youth during youth events on Friday evenings.
